Olena Tolokonina is a Ukrainian artist based in Berlin.
Her works are often exaggerated memories of the past, like the flowers from the garden where she spent her summers as a child.
Daily ritual.
My mornings start a bit chaotically, with household chores and taking the kids to school and kindergarten. But once everything is done and I'm on my bike to the studio, my thoughts slow down.
That ride is my favourite morning ritual. It clears my head of all the noise. And of course, a morning coffee with a bun.
Flow.
I feel most connected to myself on a summer day, far away from the city.
Those days, and the memories they leave, always find their way into my work.

Standing in a museum in front of Matisse's “Baigneuses à la tortue” is one of those moments that stays with me.
But mostly I'm inspired by all the women who do their work with sincerity and passion.
